US President Donald Trump announced that his administration is cancelling regulations on cutting methane emissions from oil and gas production adopted by his predecessor, Joe Biden.
“I'm officially terminating Biden's expensive and unnecessary methane regulations to save consumers and energy producers 45 billion dollars in costs,” Trump told his supporters in Texas on Tuesday.
In 2024, the Biden administration finalized methane emission rules for oil and gas companies. According to the UN data, methane emissions are one of the key drivers of rising global temperatures.
