US approves 500 patriot missiles for Ukraine

The US State Department has cleared a $2.1 billion foreign military sale to provide Ukraine with 500 PAC-3 interceptor missiles for its Patriot air defense systems.

The package, which includes related equipment and logistical support, is entirely funded by international partners—including Canada, Germany, and Norway—alongside European Union financial backing.

The major defense approval comes as Kyiv urges western allies to speed up delivery timelines to reinforce its air defense infrastructure against ongoing missile attacks.

While the transaction has cleared State Department approval, it still requires final congressional notification.
