Maya Sato, a UN special rapporteur, says the Islamic Republic has used wartime conditions to intensify repression. She has reported the execution of at least 34 people in connection with the protests of Dey and Bahman, brief trials, and the broadcasting of forced confessions, and has called for an end to the executions.
