The UN Secretary-General, in a meeting with the foreign minister of the Islamic Republic, asked the parties involved to continue diplomatic efforts and resolve remaining differences through negotiations.

Based on an official report from Antonio Guterres’ office, he and Abbas Iraqchi discussed the ongoing conflict in the region. Guterres welcomed the diplomatic efforts carried out in the high-level week of the UN General Assembly to end the fighting.

The meeting on Monday took place at the UN headquarters in New York and was on the final day of Iraqchi’s trip.

Mehr News Agency reported that Iraqchi, in this meeting, described the latest regional developments following the military attacks by the United States and Israel, and asked Guterres to condemn the attacks.
