🔻UN Secretary-General expresses concern about renewed fighting between Iran and the United States

The spokesperson, António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, urged the United States and Iran to end the hostilities and return to the path of diplomacy.

Farhan Hak, speaking to reporters in New York, said: “The Secretary-General has been concerned for some time that if the parties do not return to the negotiating table, the scope of the conflict could expand, and it appears that this is exactly what has been happening in recent hours.”

According to him: “These developments are not positive, and he—the UN Secretary-General—wants to ensure that the parties can stop the fighting and once again turn to diplomatic efforts.”

The UN Secretary-General’s spokesperson added: “Mediation by Pakistan, Qatar, and others is underway.”
