The UK Maritime Trade Operations organization announced that a ship, 13 nautical miles west of Algiers in the United Arab Emirates, was targeted by an unidentified projectile and caught fire. According to the organization, the fire has been contained.

In a statement published on Friday, 17 Mehr, the organization said it received reports from several sources about the projectile impact on this ship.

Based on this statement, the condition of the ship’s crew, the extent of the damage caused, and the possible environmental consequences of the incident are not yet known.

The UK’s Commercial Maritime Navigation organization added that the responsible authorities are investigating the incident and asked passing ships to exercise caution when transiting in the area and report any suspicious activity.
