The UK Maritime Trade Operations Center says it received a report delayed from the time that an incident occurred 30 nautical miles southeast of Iraq’s port of Faw.

The report, published on Wednesday, adds that the captain of an oil tanker said the vessel was hit by an unidentified projectile.

According to the report, the crew is safe and no damage to the ship or environmental consequences have been reported.

In October, the Islamic Republic attacked four oil tankers in the Persian Gulf, but this is the first time that an oil tanker is being attacked this close to the coasts of Iraq.

The UK Maritime Trade Operations Center also said on Wednesday that an unidentified projectile struck an oil tanker 11 nautical miles west of “Bokha” in Oman, near the Strait of Hormuz.
