🔻The UK Maritime Trade Operations organization has reported the occurrence of two explosions near an oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz

🔻The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said it had received, with a delay, a report of a maritime incident in the Strait of Hormuz, 9 nautical miles southeast of Qumzar, Oman.

According to this report, the captain of an oil tanker said that while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, he heard the sound of two explosions in waters near the vessel. The report adds that the ship and all crew members are safe, and no environmental damage has been reported so far.

On Wednesday—5 August / 14 Mordad—this organization also said it had received another report from a ship at a distance of 9 nautical miles (approximately 16 kilometers) from the port of “Mocha” in Yemen.

Based on that report, which we previously published here, a warship collided with this ship in the Red Sea and caused a fire, but the crew and personnel are all safe and have been rescued. According to the organization, the ship has now sunk.

No further details have been released. On Wednesday, Iran-aligned Houthi forces in Yemen said they had attacked a Saudi oil tanker in the Red Sea with a ballistic missile.

According to the Houthis, this was the eighth vessel that had been targeted since the start of a maritime blockade against Saudi Arabia.
