U.S. officials said the U.S. Army is on track to withdraw all of its troops

U.S. officials said the U.S. Army is on track to remove all of its forces from Iraq by the end of September (Mehr 8), in less than two months.

The move will end America’s military presence in the country, which began with the 2003 military operation against Saddam Hussein.

A U.S. official told the Associated Press that the United States expects its forces to be fully withdrawn by September 30, but did not say how many troops remain in Iraq or where they would be redeployed.

In 2024, Washington and Baghdad agreed to gradually end the U.S.-led operation against the “Islamic State” (ISIS).

Last year, American forces withdrew from their bases in most parts of Iraq, but they were still present in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region in the north of the country.

Bases located in this area have repeatedly been targeted since the start of the U.S. and Israel military operations against the Islamic Republic.
