U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said on X on Monday, Mehr 6, that statements by a senior IRGC official claiming that the Islamic Republic “has full control” of the Strait of Hormuz are not true.

CENTCOM wrote: “U.S. forces have sunk the Islamic Republic Navy, and there is no Navy left for it.”

The U.S. Central Command also added that the free passage of thousands of ships and more than one billion barrels of oil through the Strait of Hormuz over the past few months shows that the Islamic Republic does not have control over this waterway.

Earlier, Habibollah Sayyari, deputy chief of the coordinating of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Army, had said: “The West of the Strait of Hormuz, the Strait itself, and the Persian Gulf are under the full control of the IRGC Navy, and the East of the Strait of Hormuz and the North of the Indian Ocean are under the full control of the Army Navy.”
