Two American Democratic senators have called for the Pentagon to be held accountable regarding the condition of the Abraham Lincoln carrier.

🔸Two American Democratic senators, following the publication of reports and news about the “bad” conditions of U.S. Army forces on the Abraham Lincoln carrier, called on the Pentagon to answer about this.

🔸Richard Blumenthal, a Democratic senator from Connecticut and a member of the House Armed Services Committee, called for the Navy to explain the current conditions on the aircraft carrier and the details of extending its deployment period.

🔸The senator, in a letter to Pete Hegseth, the U.S. secretary of defense, and Hanq Kau, the U.S. Navy’s acting secretary, asked for information about the long and unusual deployment of this ship, and problems such as shortages of basic and essential supplies and water, psychological and mental issues caused by the long deployment, and technical problems including on-deck issues and berthing.

🔸Rubén Gáyezco, another Democratic senator who himself took part in the Iraq War, also, in a message on the X network, asked the Navy to arrange the opportunity for a congressional delegation to visit the Lincoln.

🔸CNN previously reported, citing a publication called “Military News,” which covers news related to U.S. military forces, that in recent weeks several crew members of the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln tried to throw themselves into the water.

🔸The publication, which says it spoke with the wife of one of these servicemen, added that the repeated and unusual extension of the carrier’s deployment in the Persian Gulf had caused severe fatigue, stress, and depression among the crew; a matter which, according to this report, had led to a collective attempt by the crew to jump into the sea, with the aim of escape or suicide.

🔸CNN says that in response to its inquiry, the U.S. Navy, without going into details, said only that it had not observed “an increase in crew suicide cases.”

🔸On the other hand, about four months ago, Pete Hegseth, the U.S. secretary of defense, rejected reports about disorder aboard the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln and called it “fake news.”
