🔸The United States and China Discuss Information Exchange in AI Development

The United States and China have held the first talks about the risks of artificial intelligence.

Scott Bessent, the U.S. Treasury secretary, said Washington has proposed a mechanism to the Chinese side through which the exchange of important information about AI development would be ensured.

According to him, the goal is for the two countries to reach an overall understanding about “shared goals” and “shared threats.”

The talks take place as, more recently, several cases involving the independent functioning of AI agents have been reported; including cases in which these systems automatically operated and entered the systems of real companies.

However, Donald Trump, the U.S. president, had previously rejected calls for new regulations and for slowing down the pace of AI development.

He emphasized that the United States has a technological edge over China in AI research and that this advantage must be preserved.

The New York meeting was held with the participation of He Li-feng, China’s first deputy premier, as part of preparations for a scheduled meeting between China’s President Xi Jinping and Donald Trump.
