🔸Two Iraqi government sources on Monday, 30 Shahrivar, told Agence France-Presse that Baghdad, following a statement by the U.S. Treasury Secretary that sanctioned Iranian companies would be “shut down within two days” across the world, will suspend flights by Iranian airlines.

🔸One Iraqi official said: “Iraq will implement, starting at dawn on Tuesday, in accordance with the U.S. Treasury Department decision, the ban on the activities of Iranian airlines.”

🔸The official warned: “Countries that do not carry out this decision will face sanctions.”

🔸Another government source also confirmed these remarks.

🔸Just hours earlier, Scott Bessent, U.S. Treasury Secretary, announced that all Iranian airlines will be “shut down across the world” as of September 23 (October 1) and that companies that do not comply with this restriction will be removed from the dollar financial system.

🔸The U.S. Treasury Secretary’s reference is to the imposition of secondary sanctions on all Iranian airlines as part of the economic pressure campaign known as the “Economic Expulsion Operation.”
