The U.S. Department of War announced that it has signed a contract worth up to $58.620 million with Lockheed Martin for the production of Patriot interceptor missiles; a contract that the Pentagon described as the largest recorded agreement for the production of these missiles.

The deal turns a previous one-year agreement into a seven-year plan to supply Patriot missiles in fiscal years 2026 to 2032.

The move comes as U.S. arms stockpiles, after the widespread delivery of weapons to allies and the use of guided munitions and air defense systems in military operations against the Islamic Republic, face increasing pressure.
