According to China’s customs statistics, exports of refined petroleum products from this country in September 2026 increased by 39.4% compared with the same period of the previous year, reaching seven million and 160 thousand tons. This increase occurred at the same time as disruptions in fuel supply from the Middle East and Russia due to war and sanctions.
According to Bigggo Finance, China’s diesel exports in September jumped 262.3% to one million and 850 thousand tons, the highest level since February 2023.
Exports of jet fuel also rose by 16.7% to one million and 940 thousand tons, but gasoline exports fell by 4.1% to 620 thousand tons.
In mid-March, Beijing limited exports of petroleum products to protect domestic supply, but in mid-July it reduced those restrictions.
Despite the increase in exports in September, total exports of China’s petroleum products in the first nine months of the current calendar year fell by 3.7% to 41 million and 400 thousand tons.
China’s export increase has taken place while disruptions in refinery operations and maritime transport have prompted Asian buyers to look for alternative sources of fuel.
