🔸The U.S. Department of Defense updated its official figures on Sunday, the fourth of Mordad, for the number of people killed and wounded in the war with Iran among the soldiers of this country. In these new figures, more than 140 people have been added to the count of the wounded from among U.S. service members.
🔸Accordingly, the number of war dead is currently recorded as 14, and the number of wounded is more than 400.
🔸The figures had previously been recorded as 18 killed and 482 wounded, but the Department of Defense reduced them in recent days.
🔸While the Pentagon, under the leadership of Pete Hegseth, the U.S. Secretary of Defense, had not held any press briefings in nearly the past three months, which led to criticism, the issue of how the U.S. records figures of war casualties and wounded has now also fueled criticism of the administration of Donald Trump within the United States.
🔸Among them, Leon Panetta, the former CIA director and former U.S. Defense Secretary, attacked the Pentagon in an interview with the Guardian, describing the Pentagon’s approach in recording and publicizing war statistics as “shameful.”
