The oil tanker that was targeted by IRGC missiles in the Strait of Hormuz twelve days ago is still burning near Larak Island.

Windward, a maritime data analysis company, reported that smoke reappeared in imaging on August 10 (10 Mordad), after not being seen on August 5 (4 Mordad) and August 9 (8 Mordad).

The tanker “Kavomalais” flying the flag of Malta, owned by the Greek company Dynacom, was attacked on July 20 (29 Tir) in the northwest of the Sea off the coast of Oman. Later satellite images showed that the tanker had been moved toward the Iranian Strait and close to Larak. Dynacom said the relocation was carried out without its permission. The area south of Larak is under the control of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy.

Windward described this situation as a continued risk of fire and environmental harm in the Strait of Hormuz and had previously warned about a fuel leak and the movement of an oil slick toward the coasts of Larak and Qeshm.
