The number of casualties among civilians in Russia rose by 119% in January-July 2026 compared to the same period last year, UN Under-Secretary-General Rosemary DiCarlo said, citing Russia’s official data.
“In total, from January to July 2026, Russian authorities reported 329 civilians killed and 2,197 injured in the Russian Federation. This represents a 119 per cent increase compared with the same period last year,” she said at a UN Security Council meeting convened by Western countries.
According to DiCarlo, the Secretary General is deeply concerned over the continuing escalation.
