🔺The Islamic Republic rejected Oman’s plan for Hormuz

◾The deputy foreign minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran said the government has rejected Oman’s plan for equal division of the transit routes through the Strait of Hormuz. Kاظم غریب‌آبادی said on Tuesday night on state television that this plan does not address the Islamic Republic’s security concerns.

◾The statement was made a few hours after Reuters, citing a regional source, reported that Oman has obtained support from Gulf states for its plan. Based on that report, Oman’s plan would prevent the Islamic Republic from gaining exclusive control over this waterway.

◾Oman’s plan proposes a regional, joint mechanism with voluntary fees and is adapted from the Strait of Malacca model.
