Houthis in Yemen say they shot down a Saudi reconnaissance drone over Saada province early Tuesday.

Yahya Saree, the group’s military spokesman, said in a statement on his Telegram channel that the drone of the “Qariel” type was targeted with “appropriate weapons.” Saree added that the drone was “carrying out hostile operations in the airspace of Saada province.”

Saudi Arabia has not commented on the claim, and there is no independent confirmation.

Saada is in northern Yemen, near the Saudi border. It is the birthplace of the Houthis movement and its main stronghold.
