🔻The images you are seeing are the moment hundreds of flamingos take flight over Lake Maharlo in Fars province, which has been recorded by Hossein Pourokabrian, a photographer and nature enthusiast in Iran, and published on his Instagram account.

Mr. Pourokabrian, referring to the influx of pollutants into this wetland, has warned that “the encirclement by salt and sewage in Maharlo is becoming tighter day by day.”

Describing the critical state of the wildlife in the region, this photographer called the situation for the birds and native animals of the lake concerning.

According to him, the birds and living creatures—who are the main “residents” of this ecosystem—are now trapped in extremely difficult conditions, and “perhaps rain” could help save them.

The entry of industrial and domestic sewage, alongside a sharp drop in the water level, has created conditions for the unchecked growth of algae—or the “red tide” phenomenon—in this lake.

Although this color change makes the lake appear beautiful and pinkish-red, this situation has been reported as extremely dangerous and worrying for the life of the wetland.
