The head of the Forensic Medicine Organization of the Islamic Republic said that this organization reviewed 35,295 medical negligence cases in the past year. Abbas Masjedī raised this issue at a Sunday morning press conference.
The figure is more than double the statistics from previous years. The head of the Forensic Medicine Organization had announced in Ordibehesht 1404 that in 1403, 15,041 medical negligence cases had been filed, of which 6,760 led to convictions.
Based on the organization’s prior announcement, medical negligence accounts for more than 43% of all cases referred to forensic medicine commissions.
Masjedī did not explain on what basis the figure announced today for the year 1404 was calculated and why the organization’s numbers have increased by more than twofold compared with the statistics for 1403.
