The Alternative for Germany (AfD) party is set to present a plan for radical EU reform, Politico reported. The party proposes:

▪Replacing direct elections to the European Parliament with appointing delegates from national parliaments

▪Limiting the functions of the European Commission to purely administrative tasks, while handing decision-making to national leaders

▪Replacing the EU Court of Justice with an arbitration body to settle disputes between governments

▪Cutting the EU budget and limiting staff recruitment at European institutions

▪Abandoning EU budget revenues from the value-added tax and plastics tax and increasing the influence of the EU’s largest economies at the European Central Bank
