Tasnim News Agency reported on Tuesday, 20 Mordad, the end of a hostage-taking incident on Tehran’s Valiasr Street and the rescue of a woman by police forces.

According to Tasnim’s report, on Tuesday morning a man took a woman hostage on Valiasr Street and, after the arrival of law enforcement forces, the Faraeha (hostage rescue) team of FARAJA moved in to save her.

Brigadier Madi Sharif Kazemi, the commander of the Nupo (new police unit) was also present at the scene, and police forces negotiated with the hostage-taker for about three hours, urging him to calm the situation and release the hostage.

As Tasnim wrote, after the woman was freed, the hostage-taker suddenly put his weapon to his neck and intended to commit suicide, but the hostage rescue unit prevented him from doing so and disarmed him.

Tasnim said that both the hostage and the hostage-taker are unharmed, and the woman who had been taken hostage was released without injury.
