Taiwan: Military cooperation with the United States is beyond imagination
Taiwanese officials have announced the expansion of defense cooperation with the United States—cooperation that, in addition to arms sales, includes extensive training and military exchanges, much of which had not been publicly discussed so far. This stance is also seen as a message to China, indicating that military ties between Washington and Taipei are still being strengthened.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Taiwan’s defense minister, Wellington Koo, emphasized that the level of cooperation with the United States is “much closer than you think.” According to him, these efforts are not limited to supplying military equipment, and through interaction with the U.S. military, Taiwan’s forces also gain valuable operational and combat experience.
