— Syria has agreed to significantly reduce its imports of Russian oil, as part of ongoing talks with the United States about lifting the country’s latest major sanctions, including its status as a state sponsor of terrorism (SST), according to Reuters.

Although U.S. officials said the reduction is not an official condition for Syria’s removal from the list of state sponsors of terrorism, Syrian sources said the expected reduction in reliance on Russian oil is expected to help speed up this process.
