🔺 Shipbuilding associations warn against charges from the Strait of Hormuz
◾ A coalition of international shipping industry associations, in a letter to António Guterres, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, and Arsenio Dominguez, the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization, called for preventing the imposition of any tolls or mandatory fees for the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz and other international waterways.
◾ The statement warned that the imposition of any transit tolls, contrary to established international practices, could set a dangerous precedent and create the conditions for similar actions in other international straits.
◾ Since the beginning of March, the Islamic Republic has blocked the Strait of Hormuz and has demanded collecting tolls for maritime transit through this international waterway.
