Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan’s prime minister, will travel on Thursday, leading a high-ranking delegation, with the aim of holding talks with Mohammad bin Salman, the Saudi Crown Prince.

Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement, announced that the diplomatic trip will continue until Saturday, 17 Mordad.

Commander of the Armed Forces, the foreign minister, and a number of ministers from Pakistan’s cabinet will accompany Sharif on this trip.

Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the main focus of the parties’ talks will be on regional and international developments.

The statement added that “although this trip takes place at the height of tensions in the Persian Gulf, its importance goes beyond immediate crises and short-term considerations.”

Pakistan has been the main mediator between the United States and the Islamic Republic, and it has recently also invited the speaker of Iran’s parliament and Iran’s foreign minister to continue the negotiations.

Earlier, the U.S. president had said that some countries, including Saudi Arabia, had made requests to him to stop the broad attack on the Islamic Republic.
