🔸Data from the ship-tracking company “Kpler” shows that on Sunday, the fourth of Mordad, commercial ship traffic through the Bab al-Mandeb Strait fell to its lowest level in several months after the Houthi attacks in Yemen on Aramco company facilities in Yanbu and Jazan.
🔸Based on this data, only 11 cargo ships passed through Bab al-Mandeb, seven of which were tankers. One of the large tankers also left the Red Sea for China carrying about two million barrels of Saudi and Emirati oil, and another tanker was transporting roughly 750,000 barrels of Saudi oil to Pakistan.
🔸The Iran-backed Houthis say their objective is to block Saudi Arabia’s exports; an action that has expanded the scope of U.S.-Iran tensions to the Red Sea.
🔸Saudi Arabia’s official news agency reported on Sunday that Andy Burnham, the prime minister of the United Kingdom, condemned the recent Houthi attacks and the threat they pose to freedom of navigation in the Red Sea during a telephone call with Mohammed bin Salman, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia.
🔸The two sides also discussed recent developments in the regional and international arenas, and Burnham emphasized Britain’s support for the security and sovereignty of Saudi Arabia.
