Shayan Samei’i, a national security expert, said that the combination of economic pressure, a naval blockade and a military threat has turned pressure on the Islamic Republic into a “threat against the survival of the system.”

He added that Tehran wants negotiations as “a way to buy time,” and that the pressures should continue in such a way that negotiations do not become a way for the government to escape from pressure.
