🔶 Rubio: Trump has not yet made any decision to attack Iran
The U.S. secretary of state said that Donald Trump has still made “no decision” regarding an attack on Iran. Speaking on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Atlanta, Georgia, Marco Rubio said, in response to a reporter’s question about how confident the Trump administration is that any possible renewed attacks against Iran would be short-term, “If we want, we can achieve our military objectives. The president has not made a decision yet. Today, I have no news to share with you on this, and we also do not take any of these matters lightly.”
Rubio emphasized that the U.S. president “prefers” resolving the Iran issue through “diplomacy,” and that if he did not have such a preference, he would have attacked Iran “weeks or months ago.”
He, in response to another question about how the United States supports its allies in the region against threats from Iran, said: “We are doing that right now as well.” He added: “It’s not our oil and our natural gas that transits through the Strait of Hormuz. That oil and gas belong to them.”
