Rouhollah Rahimpour, a journalist and political analyst, says that despite enjoying political, military and economic ties with the Islamic Republic and having relations with the Trump administration, Russia does not necessarily have any desire for direct mediation in the war.
According to him, Moscow benefits from tensions in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, both geopolitically and economically, and it probably prefers to remain in the role of an adviser to the Islamic Republic rather than directly entering the process of ending the war.
