🔸Riley Barnes, the U.S. Under Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor, condemned the execution of Iranian citizens by the Islamic Republic.
🔸On Monday, the 5th of Mordad, in a post on the social network X, she described those executed as “brave young people” who, according to her, were executed for protesting and raising their voices.
🔸Barnes also supported the Iranian people’s demands for the release of all political prisoners and the cessation of the executions of people, whom she said were punished for the peaceful use of their human rights and fundamental freedoms.
🔸The U.S. State Department official added to officials of the Islamic Republic: “The world is watching.”
🔸In this message, she did not refer to the names of the executed or to a specific case.
🔸In early Ordibehesht this year, Amnesty International announced that the Iranian government executed a “unprecedented” number of 2,159 people in 2025; a figure that has led to global statistics rising to the highest level since 1981.
🔸Since U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran, the number of executions in Iran, including the executions of protesters from Dey and those accused of spying for Israel, has increased significantly.
