Reuters writes that “Qatar Energy” has, this year, purchased 33 LNG cargoes from the United States for delivery to South Korea, Taiwan, Bangladesh, India, and Japan, in order to reduce the problem of gas shortages for its customers and preserve its decades-long credibility as one of the most reliable gas suppliers in the world, by compensating for the Islamic Republic’s disruptions in this country’s liquefied gas exports.

Qatar, before the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, supplied about 20% of the world’s liquefied gas demand, and more than 80% of its exports went to Asian markets.

According to this report, the value of the LNG shipments that Qatar purchased from the United States and delivered to its Asian customers is about one billion dollars.
