🔺Reports of a respiratory illness outbreak in Evin Prison’s Ward 7 and concern about prisoners’ health conditions

◾A human rights organization reports the outbreak of a disease with respiratory symptoms in several halls of Ward 7 of Evin Prison, and says the sanitary and ventilation conditions in this ward are inadequate.

◾According to the official channel of the Committee to Free Political Prisoners in Iran, some inmates have experienced symptoms including severe sore throat, weakness, and lethargy. However, the type of illness and the factor causing it have not been independently confirmed so far, and no information has been published about medical tests being conducted to identify the cause of the disease.

◾The report describes the environmental conditions in Ward 7 as worrying. Severe heat, overcrowding, and insufficient ventilation in the halls have made conditions more favorable for the transmission of the disease among inmates.
