Reports indicate that the RAF Fairford base in the UK has been raised to FPCON Delta, the highest level of protection for U.S. military forces.

The move coincided with a security incident in Welford and the arrest of several people on suspicion of crimes related to explosives. Several properties have been evacuated, and the explosive ordnance disposal team is investigating vehicles.

A U.S. Air Force spokesperson said that the base personnel are on heightened alert and readiness.
