⚡Qatar will issue its first international public bonds this year, because the country is grappling with the economic fallout of the war between the United States and Israel with the Islamic Republic.
According to Bloomberg, the Qatari government will issue five-year and 10-year dollar-denominated bonds. Final pricing and the size of the offering may be announced on Monday evening, and it is expected to be at least $500 million.
In Farvardin, Qatar had sold $3 billion in bonds privately.
Disruptions to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz have dealt a severe blow to Qatar, since liquefied natural gas exports, the country’s largest source of export revenue, depend on this waterway. Based on data from Qatar’s Ministry of Finance, this revenue fell from $9 billion in the first three months of the current year to only $200 million in the second three months.
