🔻 Qatar says it is working to facilitate even a “short-term” deal between the United States and Iran

A spokesperson for Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the country, in coordination with Pakistan, is working to facilitate reaching an agreement between Tehran and Washington.

Majed Al-Ansari, in a speech at the Concordia Summit in New York, said that “Doha is working to mediate and open a path for dialogue between Iran and the United States.”

He added that Qatar is trying to create the conditions for achieving an agreement, “even a short-term one.”

Mr. Al-Ansari stated that the conditions for the start of talks are based on keeping the Strait of Hormuz open and the parties refraining from threatening to use military force.
