The Popular Mobilization Forces, a militia group supported by the Islamic Republic of Iran in Iraq, said that several bases affiliated with the group in different parts of Iraq were targeted by joint airstrikes by the United States and Saudi Arabia early on Wednesday morning, and that in these attacks several of its personnel were killed and injured.

In a statement, the Popular Mobilization Forces wrote that, based on initial information, “a number of people” were killed and injured in these attacks and that several buildings were also damaged.

The statement added: “We consider this attack a very dangerous escalation, a violation of Iraq’s sovereignty, and an attack on the country’s official security institutions.”
