Pierre Poilievre, the leader of Canada’s Conservative Party, said at the “Cyrus the Great” event in Toronto that the Islamic Republic is not the representative of the Iranian people and that Canada should have no diplomatic relations with this government. He emphasized that the Islamic Republic is not only an enemy of the Iranian people, but also a threat to people in Canada.

Poilievre called for the intensification of sanctions, the expulsion of members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps from Canada, and the pursuit of justice for the victims of Flight PS-752.

Poilievre also, while referring to the Cyrus Charter, described freedom as part of Iran’s historical identity and said that the Iranian people deserve a return to freedom. Addressing Prince Reza Pahlavi, he expressed hope that one day Iranians will be able to return to their country freely and raise the Lion and Sun flag in Iran.
