Pakistan’s foreign ministry spokesman announced that despite the intensification of fighting across the Middle East, negotiations between the United States and the Islamic Republic “are still ongoing.”

Tahir Andarabi, on Thursday, the 8th of Mordad, said to reporters that talks to reduce tensions between the two sides are continuing and that Pakistan is doing its utmost to fully resume dialogue based on the Islamabad understandings.

According to him, the negotiations between the parties are focused in particular on “[security] the Strait of Hormuz and tension de-escalation.”

The Pakistan foreign ministry spokesman said that the country is trying to bring the United States and the Islamic Republic back to full negotiations based on the Islamabad understandings—an accord whose aim is to stop the war.

He also added that Pakistani officials are encouraging both sides to adhere to the Islamabad agreement.
