One of the Islamic Republic police officers, posing as a thief, snatched a citizen’s mobile phone while the citizen was talking on the street, and fled.

After that, an officer returned the phone to this citizen and, by saying that “you weren’t at all paying attention to what was around you,” asked him to stand by the sidewalk and hold the phone in such a way that it could not be snatched or to use a headset.

This citizen said that at that moment he “felt his heart pounding” and was scared.

In many countries, the police use officers who appear as bait in order to identify and arrest thieves.
