Data from oil tanker tracking companies says the first shipment of liquefied natural gas passed through the Strait of Hormuz overnight on Thursday via a tanker owned by QatarEnergy.

This is the first LNG tanker to pass through the Strait of Hormuz in the past three weeks and it is expected to arrive at Qasim Port in Pakistan on Friday.

The last time an LNG shipment from the UAE had passed through the Strait of Hormuz was on July 11.

Kepler energy analytics company data also shows that yesterday 12 cargo ships passed through the Strait of Hormuz; six ships entered the strait and six left it. The figure is up compared to the two days prior, but still remains less than one-tenth of the level before the Islamic Republic of Iran blocked the strait.
