Nigel Farage, leader of Britain’s right-wing Reform party, said on Monday, October 20, that if his party wins the next general election, it will pause the handling of asylum applications for five years. He said: “About 90,000 pending cases will be cancelled, new applications will be rejected automatically, and rejected applicants will be returned to their countries of origin or to safe third countries.” Farage said: “If countries refuse to accept the returned refugees, trade tariffs, export bans or airspace restrictions may be imposed on them.”
