Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of the Islamic Republic, wrote on his X account that Donald Trump, the President of the United States, started a war under the influence of Benjamin Netanyahu and with the belief that he could dominate Iran—a war that, according to him, is one of the biggest military mistakes in history.
Rezaei also said that the U.S. naval fleet failed in reopening the Strait of Hormuz and that after this failure, Washington turned to smuggling. He described this situation as a sign of the weakening of the position of the U.S. army.
The remarks come as the United States continues a naval blockade of Iranian ports and exports of oil from the Islamic Republic have fallen sharply. Based on Lloyd’s List data, apparently no crude oil cargoes were loaded in Iran in September.
