Marco Rubio: The decision-making structure in Iran is a “real obstacle” to reaching results in the negotiations

🔸Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, after remarks by Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of Iran, at the United Nations General Assembly, said that the Islamic Republic has no right to comment on international rules and “to lecture others.” He also described Iran’s decision-making structure as a “real obstacle” in talks between the two sides.

🔸On Wednesday, 1 Mehr, at a press conference on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, he added that Iran’s government “is massacring its own people,” attacks civilian areas and energy infrastructure in neighboring countries, and violates the United Nations Charter.

🔸Rubio said that with such conduct, the Islamic Republic is not in a position to give advice to others about international laws.

🔸His remarks came after Pezeshkian, in his speech, described Donald Trump’s new threats regarding the Islamic Republic’s nuclear activities as “a sign of bullying temperament and the logic of force, and contrary to the United Nations Charter.”

🔸The Iranian president began his remarks at the General Assembly in response to Trump’s previous comments in which he called the Islamic Republic a “terrorist,” and said: “We are the victims of terrorists.”
