One of the members of the Islamic Consultative Assembly called the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic “self-willed” and claimed that he registered the bill for the impeachment of Abbas Araghchi in the parliamentary system because of his meeting with officials of the U.S. administration.

Amir-Hossein Saebati, in a letter addressed to the Speaker of Parliament, claimed that this meeting by Araghchi “took place without authorization” from Mojtaba Khamenei, and that Araghchi’s interviews and statements of positions over the past few months have caused “a reduction in the global oil price” and “breathing space for the enemy.”

The representative claimed: “Weak performance in the field of economic diplomacy, which has reduced the Foreign Ministry to an apparatus for useless—indeed, even harmful—negotiations, solely with the United States.”

Previously, President Donald Trump, during a meeting with the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council and other regional countries on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, said that his special envoy, Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner had on Tuesday a “very constructive” meeting with relevant mediators connected to the Islamic Republic and that there is “a great deal of momentum” toward reaching an agreement.
