🔺Macron: We are building an oil and gas pipeline from Iraq to Europe to bypass the Strait of Hormuz

▪The President of France announced that Paris will cooperate with Iraq and Jordan to build a pipeline to transport Iraqi oil and gas to the European market.

▪Emmanuel Macron said France is trying to reduce its dependence on the Strait of Hormuz for energy supply and called for a peaceful solution to protect navigation in this waterway.

▪Macron said the energy crisis is not France’s only problem and concerns all of Europe. He added that he does not rule out the possibility of a U.S.-Iran agreement to reduce current tensions.

▪Macron’s remarks were raised in Paris a few days after the visit of Iraq’s prime minister. During that visit, the two sides signed six cooperation agreements and said they would begin discussions on several energy projects.
