New Chinese customs data reports a 56% drop in this country’s non-oil bilateral trade with Iran.

In the first eight months of this year, China had $2 billion and $248 million in exports to Iran, which represents a 51% decline compared to the same period last year.

China’s non-oil imports from Iran during the same period were only $745 million, showing a 66% drop.

China’s customs does not record oil imports from Iran in its trade statistics with the Islamic Republic, but data from Kpler, which has been seen by VOA, shows that in the first eight months of 2026, China received on average 1,225,000 barrels of oil per day from the Islamic Republic, which is 15% less than in the same period last year.
