'Life simply returned' – Oleshky ceasefire gives Kherson short respite amid years of Russian terror

A temporary ceasefire agreed upon as part of a U.S.-mediated humanitarian mission to Russian-occupied Oleshky has brought a rare sense of calm to the city of Kherson.

For the first time in months, residents were able to walk the streets without the constant threat of Russian artillery, glide bombs, and drones.

Despite the gloomy autumn weather, locals returned to the streets in numbers not seen since the city's liberation from Russian occupation in November 2022.
